WELCOME TO GERDLING MOMS
Do you have a little GERDling at
home? Do you wish you had a stronger support system and close
friends that understood? Do you wish you could help raise
awareness and that your family and friends better understood
what life with a refluxer or GERDling is really like?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then GERDling
Moms is for you.
It is estimated that at least fifty
percent of all newborns (up to 85% of premature babies) are born
with some degree of reflux. While it's true that most of these
babies outgrow their condition within the first few months of life
and many do not require medical intervention for their reflux, there
are a percentage who do not outgrow it and are really bothered by
their reflux. There are also many who suffer dreadful complications
and do not respond to even the most aggressive treatment. Our
kids are among these children. They
are suffering from the more serious condition called
Gastro
Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and the complications include, but
are certainly not limited to, severe food and oral aversions, long
term tube feeding, weight loss, failure to thrive, esophagitis, asthma, wheezing, apnea, anemia, pneumonia, ALTE (apparent life
threatening events), erosion of dental enamel, developmental and or speech
delays and Barrett's esophagus (pre-cancerous condition). |
